Aurora borealis is a myth. At least that is what we concluded after spending 5 nights in Tromso with June, Michael, Anna and Derek over Christmas hoping to catch it. There must be a world-wide conspiracy to promote tourism during the freezing winter in these parts of the world. As some sort of consolation, the snow did come overnight on Christmas eve so we finally got to enjoy the white Christmas we were hoping for last year in Salzburg.
- Impressions: Lost all concept of time when experiencing total darkness bar 2 hours of the day
- Highlights: Waking up to a white Christmas; novelty of seeing a reindeer
- Lowlights: Northern lights not putting on a show for us; missed dogsledding due to lack of snow
Putting cynicism aside, I have not lost all hope. Determined to see the northern lights at least once some day....
