City of diamonds

Took the opportunity to check out Antwerp, Belgium for the weekend whilst Alex was there for work 2 weeks ago. Flying out of City airport for the first time was a mixed experience. The convenience of getting there and ease of going through check-in and security was fantastic. However should of known the drawback of a small airport, is the small planes! Definitely one of the worst flights yet. It was so rocky that the woman in the seat in front of me could not hold it in just before it landed. Ugh...

Had Daniella in mind, given Antwerp is the city of diamonds, so could not miss the diamond museum. Learnt a few fascinating facts - something like 80% of all diamonds go through Antwerp; twice; De Beers owns half of the diamonds in circulation; and Australia is currently no. 1 in terms of producers of diamonds.

Antwerp itself was another nice European town although going for duck noodle in what was considered their Chinatown was a big mistake! Also managed to fit in some shopping of course. No, not for diamonds, but still a hard day's work nevertheless!
