They tied the knot...and a bit sentimental

We took our first trip home for a wedding in Oct (and presumably won't be the last). No doubt it was a long way to travel but we were very glad that we made the decision to be home for Gen & Eric's wedding. Having been there and looking back, a close friend's wedding is something you just can't miss.

In contrast to the Katherine & Keith's English wedding, Gen & Eric's was quite the traditional Chinese wedding with the ceremony held at the Monastery. A different and interesting experience. I have to say, weddings are particularly enjoyable and special when its of someone close.

It felt good to see family and friends again, although was a little too brief... a whirlwind trip in being back for only 5 days. Unfortunately we did not have a chance to catch up with everyone we would of liked to, as is often the case. In particular, would have liked to catch up with the girls more properly. Perhaps its the notion of one of us getting married, and a few of us overseas that's made me feel a bit sentimental. The feeling of not knowing when we'll all see each other next, but there's also a re-assuring feeling that good friends will always stay close and that some day we will all settle down back home again...and can go back to our regular coffee catch ups that I so miss!

Its my second time back home since setting off for London and both times there was the same feeling of nothing's changed back home, realisation that alot of friends were actually abroad (and mostly in London in fact), and it re-confirmed that going away was the right decision. Would probably have still felt unsettled with the travel bug if I hadn't. As Alex would put it, the buzz of London has numbed our senses to Sydney. In that there is much more the world has to offer beyond what we are so familiar with. Not to say we prefer one to the other, but we'll relish what London has to offer while we are here for the time being.
