An English wedding

Experienced our first English wedding in September at Kath's & Keith's in Cobham.

The day started with a bit of a debacle in waiting for over 2 hours to just get a hire car at Hertz in which we pre-booked. Allowed time for traffic and getting lost on unfamiliar roads, but not for this! Finally made it but missed the exchange of vows which was very disappointing.

When we did finally get there, the day was very nice. And was good to catch up with family away from home. The full day English wedding tradition is indeed 'lovely' with 2 seatings...full 3 course lunch with great speeches, followed by buffet dinner and dancing. A much more relaxing day where the bride and groom has plenty of time to catch up with all their guests rather than the typical hectic chinese wedding of trying to fit in too many things, places and people in the one day and you are lucky to exchange more than a quick congrats with the bride and groom.

It was held at a beautiful setting in a 14th century hotel in the English country side. We didn't know anyone apart from Kath, Keith, my aunt and cuz Tony but it was enjoyable nevertheless. Overnight stay was memorable in a not so good way in being stung by a bee in bed of all places (forgot what comes with being in the country!), but the following day spent exploring the town of Shear was very cool.
